FAIRFIELD — The Wayne County man who has admitted to driving drunk in an accident that killed a Dieterich man returning home last summer from military service is being held without bond on a second DUI charge.

Justin DeJaynes, 23, of rural Sims was arrested March 22 in Marion County on suspicion of DUI. A spokeswoman for Wayne County State’s Attorney Kevin Kakac said DeJaynes was being held at the Wayne County Jail after his bond was revoked.

DeJaynes was out on bond pending his May 21 sentencing on aggravated DUI charges. DeJaynes pleaded guilty to aggravated DUI in January.

DeJaynes was charged with aggravated DUI and reckless homicide in connection with the death last July 3 of Christopher Hardiek, 19. Hardiek had been on his way home from a military assignment when DeJaynes’ truck crossed the center line on U.S. 45 near Geff and struck the Hardiek vehicle head-on.

A reckless homicide charge was dropped in connection with the guilty plea.
