Bakersfield woman killed in car crash

A Bakersfield woman died after a car crash late Friday night.

Laura Noling, 20, was pronounced dead at the scene after a suspected drunk driver ran a red light and struck the 1996 Mazda Protege she was driving at about 11:30 p.m. Friday.

Jorge Armando Diaz of Bakersfield was arrested for felony drunken driving and vehicular manslaughter.

Diaz, 25, was speeding west on Panama Lane in a 2001 Ford Expedition and failed to stop for a red light at Ashe Road, Bakersfield police said.

The truck Diaz was driving struck the Protege as it turned left from southbound Ashe to eastbound Panama Lane.

Diaz received minor injuries in the crash and was taken to Kern Medical Center for treatment.
